EnVivo Announces Key Additions to Its Management Team
Watertown, MA – November 10, 2003 – EnVivo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today the addition to its Management Team of James Wang, Ph.D., as Director of Neuropharmacology, John Hotchkiss, as Director of BioIT/Informatics and Phil Lambert, Ph.D. as Head of In Vivo Pharmacology.

James Wang has twenty years experience in neuropharmacology research and biotechnology drug discovery. Most recently, he headed the Neuroprotection Program at Cogent Neuroscience, Inc. in North Carolina, and was responsible for the discovery of many novel neuroprotective genes and small molecules with therapeutic potential for stroke and other diseases of acute CNS and retinal injuries.

John Hotchkiss has more than fifteen years experience managing the development of information technology. He joined EnVivo from his role as Chief Technology Officer for AnVil, an in silico drug discovery company specializing in applying machine learning techniques to the analysis of biological and clinical data. John also held the positions of Chief Technology Officer for ActiveCyte, V.P of Engineering for Lycos, and Director of the Technology Division and V.P. of Software Tools at Harlequin.

Phil Lambert is a neuroscientist with fifteen years experience in research and drug discovery. He has worked in both pharmaceutical and biotech companies and led in vivo pharmacology groups responsible for both in house and external drug development studies. Before joining EnVivo, he was Director of Pharmacology for the ALS Therapy Development Foundation and has also held positions with Glaxo and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and was on the faculty at Emory University Medical School.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Jim Wang, John Hotchkiss and Phil Lambert to the EnVivo management team. They significantly strengthen the scientific rigor and biotechnology management experience of an already strong team of Chris Cummings, Director of Model Systems and Gerhard Koenig, Chief Scientific Officer,” said David Lowe, President and Chief Executive Officer of EnVivo.

About EnVivo Pharmaceuticals: Headquartered in Watertown, MA, EnVivo Pharmaceuticals is a privately held biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering and developing therapeutics for disorders of the brain. EnVivo has created a new paradigm in drug discovery by using industrialized in vivo screening of disease models in simple organisms. Its technology greatly improves and accelerates the drug discovery process because it specifically assays for changes in clinically relevant symptoms, such as the organism’s motor function. Because the screen detects improvements in disease symptoms, it does not depend on prior understanding of the disease mechanism. EnVivo’s technology is particularly suitable for the CNS as it screens for drugs that can act at multiple cellular and molecular sites within the complex neural circuits that regulate behavior.
