EnVivo Announces Hiring of Vice President of Chemistry Watertown, MA – August 16, 2004 – EnVivo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today the addition to its Management Team of Gideon Shapiro, Ph.D., as Vice President of Chemistry.
Gideon Shapiro is a medicinal chemist who brings 18 years of research and management experience in large pharmaceutical and biotech environments to EnVivo Pharmaceuticals. Gideon spent 12 years at Sandoz/Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Basel, Switzerland in various functions, acting ultimately as co-manager of the Neurodegeneration Research Department at Sandoz. Subsequently he was co-founder and CEO of the genomics company EraGen Biosciences and founder and CSO of Somatocor Pharmaceuticals. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 1984 from the University of California at Berkeley and performed postdcoctoral research at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland before joining Sandoz. He is the co-author of numerous publications and patents in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, peptide chemistry and pharmacology and taught for the graduate seminar program at the University of Basel, Switzerland.
